Any person or group that conducts a protest action must limit its activity to the location designated by the Fair Board. The designated location is west of the horse arena area. No forms of fire may be used. No entrances or exits can be obstructed or limited in any way.

BEST Desert IN MAHNOMEN COUNTY
CONTEST RULES, THURSDAY, AUGUST 25th
1. Open to all Mahnomen County residents. One desert
per person.
2. Deserts must be made from “scratch”.
3. Disposable pans only.
4. Write on a recipe card a brief description of the desert, along with your name and address.
5. Judging will be based on the following criteria:
Flavor 40 points
Overall appearance 25 points
Creativity 35 points
6. All deserts become the property of the Mahnomen County Fair Board.
Please bring you desert to the Grand Stand between 12 -4pm on Thursday, August 25th. The winner will be announced at the Rhythm Riding Program on Thursday night. Winner will receive a $50.00 savings bond and the bragging rights to the “Best Desert Baker in Mahnomen County”. This event sponsored by First National Bank in Mahnomen.
GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS
1. Any resident of Mahnomen, Polk, Norman, Becker, and Clearwater Counties may enter for premiums in all divisions. No premium will be awarded unless exhibit is deemed worthy of merit.
2. Pre-registration is encouraged. Mail to: Mahnomen County Agricultural Society, PO Box 183, Mahnomen, MN 56557. List the Division, Class, Lot and general description.
3. All articles of handwork must have been made since last Fair. Canned foods must be from July of the previous year to this year. Agricultural products must be grown this year.
4. Premiums and ribbons are only awarded for first, second, and third places. Premium checks will be mailed after fair, wrong or incomplete addresses will delay processing. Any claims of premium error must be made to the treasurer within 10 days after the mailing of premiums.
5. Due diligence will be used by The Mahnomen County Agricultural Society but the Society will not be responsible for any injury or loss of an exhibit or the injury of any person.
6. No exhibits will be released until Sunday, August 29th at 4:00 p.m. If an exhibitor needs additional time, call 218-556-1208 to set up an appointment for collection.
7. Distributing, tacking or posting of any advertisements or hand bills by any organization or person will not be permitted on the fairgrounds except from their place of business or exhibit. Anyone violating this rule will be liable to a fine or expulsion from the fairgrounds, as the Fair Board may elect.
8. The Fair Board reserves the final and absolute right to interpret these rules and regulations. The Fair Board will arbitrarily settle and determine all matters, questions an differences in regard hereto or otherwise arising out of, connected with or incident of the Fair and/or premium list.

BARN RULES
9. Exhibitors must furnish their own hay, straw, grain and feed. Exhibitors must keep their stock stalls and pens in good, neat condition and open for inspection from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
10. Exhibitors must inform them-selves when their stock will be judged and have their animal ready for presentation in the show arena when called for.
11. All exhibitors of bulls, one year or over, must lead such animals with a suitable staff attached to the nose ring, and otherwise keep same in the stalls with a chain fastened in said nose ring.
12. No entries of livestock can be made unless rules and regulations of the State Livestock Sanitary Board have been complied with. Swine entries need current negative pseudo-rabies test. Horse entries need current negative coggins test. Sheep/goats entries need an USDA scrapies verification farm number. Chicken entries need either a current negative Pullorum test or hatchery papers. Turkey entries need hatching papers. Health papers must be presented to the Department Superintendent or Fair Veterinarian.
13. Calves under two months of age at the time of exhibition shall not be eligible for competition.
14. All classes one year and older calling for registered stock should be accompanied by certificate or registry. Purebred animals under one year should be accompanied by a certified statement that both sire and dam of such animal are properly registered purebreds.
15. 4-H and FFA livestock entries that are properly entered into Open Class divisions are allowed to compete for Open Class premiums. Open Class and 4-H/FFA will be judged at the same time. Breeder of firm limited to two breeds and one animal per lot. Boars must have tusks removed.
16. We reserve the right to group like lots/classes to create competition. The decision of the Livestock Superintendent and Fair Board is final.
